Helloooooooo! So, it has been a little while since I blogged and things are constantly changing. I guess that’s what freedom is, looking at all the possibilities and making them work for you, taking time to really think about what you want to do with this one life and it is SO exciting!
Basically, Sophie and I have been chatting loads and discussing what to do, I don’t know if I mentioned that Sophie will be travelling with me when I leave in November? I think I did. Anyway, we have been weighing up all our ideas and thinking hard about what to do. We know that work won’t be great in Nerja in the winter, so we have joined a brilliant website called http://www.workaway.info, anyone who is reading this and thinking of going off travelling, go on that site and sign-up. How it works is you put your profile on there and say where you want to travel and you can get in touch with hosts all over the World and they can get in touch with you too. They give you your accommodation and some or all of your food in exchange for you working for them so, not only are you getting to travel, you are getting all sorts of work experience too. I am obviously offering my photography services too as I want to do that for sure, although I know no matter where we go I will be able to keep up my photography and get some amazing prints to sell for PIP.
We have had some pretty cool offers from a nature reserve in NZ for next January, a hostel on Koh Lanta in Thailand for next March and a school in Kenya. At the moment we have just been looking at Spain and a couple of great opportunities have come up for when we want to volunteer, so we just need to have a good chat and decide what to do… We have also been looking at going to Australia, it is somewhere we both want to go and we think it would be a good idea to be there for the winter when it is their summer and it will be busy and then we will head to Spain next April, ready for the summer season there… Light chasing is my new occupation ;-). Friday evening will be when we hopefully decide what to do, so will update you this weekend :-).
If anyone has any thoughts on what you think we should do, let me know, would be great to get peoples opinions on it all!
In other news an amazing thing happened on PIP’s FB page the other day. I was doing some reading and read this amazing paragraph and posted it on my FB page to be food for thought for others:
‘Lets say you are living life without the thought of death and the angel of death comes to you and says
‘come, it’s time to go’ and you say,
‘No! You’re supposed to give me a warning so I can decide what I am going to do with me last week!’
Do you know what death will say to you?
‘I have given you your whole life, how could you not be aware that your time is limited and you’re supposed to be using it for something meaningful? I have given you 52 weeks this passed year alone and look at all the other weeks I have given you, why would you need one more? What did you do with all of those?’
If asked that… What are you going to say? How will you answer it? I wasn’t paying attention? I didn’t think it mattered? That’s a pretty amazing thing to say about your life…
We can all take something from that, no matter what we believe in and I think many of us are guilty of taking life for granted, I certainly was. Make a change today.
I then had a comment from a girl, whom I don’t know saying she thought it was beautiful, I then replied and then she did saying: today is 10months since I last self-harmed and I am feeling good been a long 10 months but I have found ways to cope and there is light at the end of the tunnel. I live each day as it comes, life is a gift we must not waste. you only get one chance at it xx
I cannot tell you how much this moved me, I got very emotional and feel that way again now. This is EXACTLY what PIP is about and it means I have reached someone that I wanted to reach. This lovely girl didn’t have to share that with me or the FB group, but she did. That is what I want, people from all over the world sharing their deepest worries and darkest days, their stories and to know that they don’t have to be ashamed by any of it as it is all part of our journey that leads us to now. I want everyone to feel love and support and that they have somewhere to go, people to talk to. If anyone reading this knows how I can push PIP out to people I want to reach then please get in touch. I want PIP UK to be a movement of people, expressing themselves and loving photography, basically, I want to change the World – haha! Be it in a small way or a big way, I just want to make a difference to has many wonderful human beings as I can.
What else… ooh the house has now been rented out, have a young couple moving in next Friday, so I am moving out this weekend to my Mum and Step-Dad’s, that will be weird but I am looking forward to it as I love spending time with them and it will be time I will cherish as before I know it I will be ‘leaving on a jet plane not knowing when I’ll be home again!’ Well, I will know, but you know what I mean, I was just singing the song like the guy does on Armageddon, lol! Lots to do on the house front though, need to pack up my clothes and sort out my chest of drawers after writing this post.
Oh AND I paid off my credit card, what an awesome feeling that was! Will be cutting that up for sure, everyone says ‘keep it for emergencies’ errrm that’s what it was supposed to be for and then I racked up over £3K worth of debt, not cool! I also bought my Macbook pro, a new lens for my camera and a flash so I can get the best out of what I have got. I was going to buy a professional camera but unfortunately the money didn’t quite work out as I planned.
I think that is it for now, I am getting a new tattoo this afternoon and it will say ‘Life is a gift, not a given right’, that way I will be reminded not to take a single day for granted and to live every minute to the max!
Here are some of my latest photos, some of which I took on my day of photography with Rob and others I took afterwards…
Enjoy the rest of the week beautiful people!
